My amazement is at the way the MSM is playing this. On AOL they printed an AP story, which actually differs from the Washington Post account, in that Byrd had no political aspirations when he joined the Klan. In other words, he joined because he believed in their mission.
Imagine, if this were Trent Lott, or another Republican. Do you think the articles would be this forgiving? I mean these articles that I have seen almost make the man either a hero or a poor misguided youth, for joining the Klan.
